"I'm humbled by the individual donors that make it possible for us to dedicate ourselves to receiving this world-class education and to realize our dreams" — Resident Artist Musa Ngqungwana | Hometown: Port Elizabeth, South Africa
WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF AVA?The Friends of AVA are the dedicated supporters who by investing in AVA's mission, nurture and launch the world's most promising vocal artists. Individual donors enable AVA to offer world-class opera training to the most gifted young singers in the U.S. and around the globe, regardless of their ability to pay. That's because AVA is the only tuition-free school in America exclusively devoted to voice – AVA resident artists receive the equivalent of more than $100,000 a year in training for four years. Many also receive fellowships to help cover living expenses.
Your support further helps opera lovers of tomorrow gain valuable cultural experience through AVA's Opera Outreach program. Every year, over 1,000 middle school students from Philadelphia and New Jersey immerse themselves in AVA's hands-on opera workshops. Afterwards, they attend special matinee performances of AVA's operas.
HOW DO I BECOME A FRIEND OF AVA?All donors to the Academy of Vocal Arts are Friends of AVA!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?When you make a gift to AVA, you become part of the family! Watching AVA's Resident Artists develop and flourish during their time in the program is an extraordinary experience. But further, as a supporter of AVA you'll have the rare opportunity to get to know these future opera stars personally through the Friends of AVA's exclusive parties, concerts, and opera trips.
