Two tragic one-act operas in concert

Suor Angelica · Forced to enter a convent by her family, a young nun takes poison when a heartless Aunt coldly informs her of the death of her child. Seized by remorse, she prays for forgiveness and witnesses a miracle.

Il tabarro · Set on a barge in the Seine river, a captain discovers his wife's infidelity, and exacts a shocking revenge.

Jubilate! A Concert of Sacred Music

An AVA favorite, this concert features three centuries of sacred vocal music, from Baroque to Gospel and beyond. The AVA soloists are joined by the 100 voice New Jersey MasterChorale. David Antony Lofton conducts the AVA Opera Orchestra.

Artistes, Auteurs, et Autres Animaux, an evening of French Chanson

April 12-13, 2011
AVA artists and faculty present a recital of songs about the works of great artists in Paris in the early 20th Century and songs about animals. This multi-media presentation in AVA's Warden Theater will feature works by composers such as Poulenc, Ibert, Honegger, Durey, and Satie.

The devilish Don pursues women all over Europe, leaving a trail of broken hearts and shattered lives. A ghostly encounter in a cemetery ensures that this devil gets his due! Mozart's brilliant score is considered by many to make this one of the world's greatest operas.
