Gala 75th Anniversary Concert

The Academy of Vocal Arts has produced some of the world’s most brilliant opera stars – and many of them will return to Philadelphia to celebrate AVA’s 75th Anniversary. The concert will feature AVA star alumni from the Metropolitan Opera and from around the world. Soprano Angela Meade, currently rehearsing the Met’s upcoming production of Armida, where she is covering Renée Fleming in the title role, will be joined by sopranos Eglise Gutiérrez, Indra Thomas, and Latonia Moore. Also featured are tenors Michael Fabiano, who recently made his Met debut in Verdi's Stiffelio, and James Valenti, who will make his Met debut just two days before BrAVA Philadelphia! as Alfredo in La traviata, plus baritone Luis Ledesma. Current resident artists, soprano Michelle B. Johnson, mezzo-soprano Margaret Mezzacappa, and baritones Christopher Bolduc and Alex Lawrence, along with the entire roster of AVA resident artists, will add their voices to complete this operatic tour-de-force. AVA Music Director Christofer Macatsoris will conduct the AVA Opera Orchestra. This is a concert not to be missed!
The star-studded concert at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall will be preceded by cocktails and a sumptuous dinner at Hyatt at the Bellevue. Patrons will then enjoy special reserved seating at the concert, and a return to Hyatt at the Bellevue for a “Meet the Artists” Champagne and dessert reception with dancing to a live band.
